Bang bang bang.

Super producer Mark Ronson's newest single with new band "The Business Intl'" is the very, very cool Bang Bang Bang.
The new album is out in September this year hopefully (according to Wikipedia), but this single is out in July.
I love the kookiness in this whole clip, it's pretty much all crazy nonsense.
Thanks to Dubai's best music blog http://www.discoballbreaker.com/ for the clip!
Ps- I'm going to Thailand tonight for a long weekend break. Can't wait for some amazing Bangkok shopping!

Rock and roll queen.

Watched The Subways play an hour + set at Alpha SYNF club last night. Great getting out and seeing some real live music in Dubai. Also supported by local band Beat Antennae, the whole night was rockin'.
Awesome pictures of the band thanks to my buddy Riksa. Turned out real nice eh?

Not too excited for my outfit for the night (can you tell?) hahaha.

Things I learnt last night:
1. Don't wear lace to a rock show. Especially when you love getting involved up in front of the stage.
2. The humidity levels in Dubai have been turned up to the max, I'm sure of it!
3. I can rock about for 3 hours and go home with happy feet. Even in these high laced Forever 21 heels.
Pretty proud of myself for that.

Diamond beauty.

Marina Diamandis (aka Marina and the Diamonds) has an amazing onstage presence.
Check out some of her outfits from tours in 2009 and 2010.
Her style is like a mixed bag of random goodies. It's obvious the girl adores fun clothing, actually she says most of the clothing she likes are "quite gaudy or kinda horrendous" so doesn't really believe in fashion faux pas! That's a pretty cool attitude, I must say.
I really admire her kooky, outrageous choices.

Oh and she sings pretty good too!;) Check out her version of 3OH3's Starstrukk.

Kate Moss for Topshop S/S 2010.

My favourite high street clothing store, and their ongoing collaboration with my favourite person ever.
You don't know how happy it makes me every time there is a new collection from Topshop's Kate Moss line.
Tomorrow marks the launch of the Spring/Summer 2010 line and for a sneak preview of what we can expect, Kate models the line in this short video, whilst dancing away to easy sounds of The Strange Boys.
The title of the song is “Be Brave”

Let's have a look at the new collection, shall we?

Lace features prominently. The shoulder details on the long sleeve mini are very on trend, but I love the detail on the third dress. I bought one very similar while I was on vacation. Happy times!
Loose-fit silken dresses, both long and short (in romper form!) in neutral colours. I think I would have liked to see these (especially the shorts) more bright and bold colours... The denim halter body suit looks sexy as. Reminded me immediately of Ms Blake Lively.
Lots of maxi dresses in the collection as well, which is great for both casual days as well as accessorizing them up for a night out.
I AM IN LOVE WITH THE CROSSBACK/KEYHOLE RUFFLED MAXI DRESS.
There are a lot of cotton floral dresses in the new collection too, both mini and maxi.

What's your verdict?
I think the pieces are nice, but a bit typical and although definitely summery with the earthy tones and soft florals, lacks that certain something. I'm a Kate Moss and Topshop fangirl though. So no matter what they do, I'll adore anything!

My guitar hero - VV.

I'm dedicating my 100th post to the super awesome woman best known for being one half of two-piece rock outfit, The Kills - Alison Mosshart!
There's no use hiding it anymore: my dream ever since I was 15 was to be a rock star. And Alison is exactly the kind of rock star I want to be. With three solid albums with The Kills under her belt, and last year joining supergroup The Dead Weather  - she's pretty much the epitome of rock and roll; the perfect rock front woman.
Messy hair, lots of black, leather and a stick of Marlboro lights between her lips - this girl radiates cool.
(Ok maybe except the smoking, but at least this contributes to her recognizably snarly vocals!)
The Dead Weather have a new album coming out on May 11th called 'Sea of Cowards'. I can't hardly wait! Check out the songs below. My favourite Dead Weather song is 'Cut Like a Buffalo' but the filmclip for the song below is pretty cool.

U R A Fever - The Kills

Treat Me Like Your Mother - The Dead Weather
PS - 100 posts - woah! Thanks to my followers by the way, I hope I'm keeping you somewhat entertained!

Junko Shimada RTW Autumn 2010.

Before looking through the shots, please play the song and keep it in the background...
I could imagine this music playing as the models made their way down the catwalk.:)

Junko Shimada - Autumn 2010 Ready-to-Wear Collection
LOVING THE COLOURS.
I really like the mini skirt/long sleeve look. In some situations, I need to cover my arms up (due to the tattoo), but don't want to look like a nun ;)
For every inch of arm covered, I think it's fair to snip an inch off the skirt. Haha
Monochrome can never go out of fashion. It goes away but always come back - proving it's got the staying power. Obviously it's a classic look. Add a bit of colour to the outfit to make it POP!
Also loving the turbans featured heavily in this collection.
Always a fan of Arabian influences, and any way to keep hair out of my face during the scorching desert summer heat.
Colours, colours, colours - give me more, more, more!
And shall we have a close up look at those shoes?
Hot to trot!

PS - I wish I knew how to embed mp3's into my blog instead of youtube clips.
I've googled it but still haven't been able to figure it out!
If anyone can help me, that'd be great:-)

One love.

David Guetta honoured Dubai with his presence last Friday, playing a three hour concert to a crowd of about 6000* enthusiastic party people.
I love when the whole crowd is just in good spirits. The vibe was great and the music was even better.

Mabellie in cute F21 party dress and myself in a Zara lace tube dress. Shoes from Reiss & New Look.

Huge robot man appeared halfway through the show.
Pretty random, but he had laser beam hands - SO AWESOME.

So tired but still can't stop feeling the beats.

* I don't actually know how many people attended :-) (I've been searching reviews only and surprisingly can't find ANY?!)
All I know is that on the Facebook event page, 3970 people accepted as attending, and it was massive sold-out concert...

Channeling Brenda Walsh.

This Wednesday at Barasti in Dubai, VANILLA ICE will be having a free outdoor concert. W.T.F.
It's pretty much awesome, I mean, totally rad!
A bunch of us might go and dress up in 90s style but I've been having trouble gathering items from my wardrobe that have a 90s feel. It's not exactly a decade well known for it's amazing fashion. It never had the same 'coolness' as the 60s, 70s, 80s - it's like things just got really grungey and somewhat daggy in the nineties.
I did manage to find this editorial via Who What Wear that draws inspiration from BH90210.
90s ideas: baggy denim, floral headbands, sneakers, and maybe knotting a t-shirt around itself to make a midriff top... Ok, so this could work!
Who was your favourite Beverly Hills character? Mine was always Brenda. And from the boys it was David. There was something about him being the school dj that I found so cool.

Just a post with some beautiful images of Natasha Khan - Bat for Lashes.
She has an amazing look. AND FACE PAINT MAKEUP.

In The Sun.

Yay! She And Him are back with their second album Volume Two.
Here is the super cute film clip for the first single In The Sun.
Adorable. Zooey's hair is so long now. Pretty!!
PS - if you're not a member of this group on Facebook, you should be:
I have a crush on Zooey Deschanel. Who doesn't?
And from a previous blogpost, reasons I love Zooey.

Miroir Noir.

Last week, I watched Miroir Noir, a film following the band Arcade Fire as they created and toured for their album Neon Bible.
Quite an amazing docu/film actually. Filmed by Vincent Moon and directed by Vincent Morriset - resulting in an elusive behind-the-scenes peak at an inspirational and intense band.
Many of the scenes were beautiful, accompanied by even more beautiful and inspiring music. The first time I listened to Neon Bible back in 2007 I remember the shivers down my spine... from the lyrics, Win Butler's vocals, the composition. Everything was perfect. The church organs at the start of Intervention gave me chills and even when I listen to My Body Is a Cage til now, I feel like I'm peering directly into his soul.
Mahmovies! was the organisation that brought the film to Dubai. They held film showings at the Jamjar for the first few months of this year. As Miroir Noir was the final showing for this season, they let us keep the beanbags we all comfortably settled in.
I'm sure those driving past thought it was pretty odd... watching groups of people leaving an industrial warehouse with beanbags on their backs.. ;)

Cherry bomb.

Look how gorgeous Dakota Fanning is in the February issue of Vogue Italia. Those eyebrows are the sex. I love the edgy, girly look they've given her - very high fashion. I can't really believe she's only 16 still. She looks sweet and sexy, but not too sultry or Lolita-esque.
The pictorial coincides with the release of her new movie The Runaways, also starring Kirsten Stewart and honestly, I can't wait to see their portrayal of THE MOST KICKASS GIRL BAND EVA...!
Ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-CHERRY BOMB.

LILY LOVE.

The girl is a goddess. I love her.
Lily Allen at the Brit Awards, 2010.
Also, pretty epic performance by Dizzee Rascal & Florence Welsh doing a live mash-up of Dirtee Money & You Got The Love. Amazing.

Pendulum.

Last night, Dee and I went out to see Pendulum do a dj set at Alpha.
I actually didn't end up wearing the tutu above. Changed into jeans just before going out and I'm so happy I did (note: it was a d&b night!!). We wrote love on our arms, you'll know why if you read the entry 'Hope' a few posts down. Some people were asking about it, especially Dee's coz it was HUGE on her whole forearm - and of course the answer was something like, "no, it's not real. I'm supporting TWLOHA Day. Google it ;)".

The Bird And The Bee.

I recently discovered the band The Bird And The Bee. They sound like 'a futuristic 1960's American film set in Brazil' in the form of an indie pop duo from Los Angeles. When I listen to them, it makes me feel like I'm sitting in a wide open field, picking daisies and making headbands; or in the backyard on a summers day tie-dying tshirts; or in an Austin Powers video clip; or... ok you get the point.
After googling some images of the band, I've decided that they are simply the coolest. Like they are method actors or something. Well, more like 'method singers'. Dressing the part to sound the part. I imagine tweed suits, mini dresses, slick hair and pocket watches to be a part of their every day wardrobe. When music and fashion is mixed without being 'gimmicky' - the combination of the two great arts is magic. I think Inara and Greg play great music and have achieved a vintage look without seeming pretentious or looking like they've tried too hard.
I wanted to post the film clip for 'Again and Again' from their self-titled album back in 2007, but their embedded videos have been disabled..
Here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xDlEXQaMBpk
Though I'm a little late in discovering them, I am so glad I did. If you are a pop music fan I'd definitely recommend you check them out.
It's like pop music in one of its sweetest forms.

Romantical.

I'm listening to Sarah Blasko's album 'As Day Follows Night', especially on the first track 'Down on Love'. It's kind of got me in this sweet mood; you'll need to listen to the song first to understand.
I did quite a lot of shopping today at Dubai Mall. Bought this pink floral dress from Peacock (and six other dresses from Debenhams, Topshop and Oasis).
I also had my hair curled at the salon just a few hours ago. Feeling quite ditzy-daisy and lovely right now.
(Please try to excuse the mess in my room. I've been wanting to rearrange everything and will hopefully start this month.)
Anyway, try to find the song online. Actually I'd recommend the whole album. It's got a kind of whimsical folk sound to it, of course lead beautifully by Sarah's soft, haunting voice. Just by listening to her you can kind of tell what she'd look like. To be honest, I don't know much about her personally or her style, but she seems like one of them vintage chic women. And you gotta give props to girls that do the vintage chic well!
I'm loving the butterfly brooch she's got on in this picture below.
