My guitar hero - VV.

I'm dedicating my 100th post to the super awesome woman best known for being one half of two-piece rock outfit, The Kills - Alison Mosshart!
There's no use hiding it anymore: my dream ever since I was 15 was to be a rock star. And Alison is exactly the kind of rock star I want to be. With three solid albums with The Kills under her belt, and last year joining supergroup The Dead Weather  - she's pretty much the epitome of rock and roll; the perfect rock front woman.
Messy hair, lots of black, leather and a stick of Marlboro lights between her lips - this girl radiates cool.
(Ok maybe except the smoking, but at least this contributes to her recognizably snarly vocals!)
The Dead Weather have a new album coming out on May 11th called 'Sea of Cowards'. I can't hardly wait! Check out the songs below. My favourite Dead Weather song is 'Cut Like a Buffalo' but the filmclip for the song below is pretty cool.

U R A Fever - The Kills

Treat Me Like Your Mother - The Dead Weather
PS - 100 posts - woah! Thanks to my followers by the way, I hope I'm keeping you somewhat entertained!

My favourite things.

Finding my favourite song lyrics in random places.
Paris & London.

 Chocolate.

Melbourne cafe culture.
Vintage dresses.
Sweet girls.

Cute boys.
Puppies.

Cameras & pictures.
Kitties & bunnies.

These are a few of my favourite things.

A webcam timeline.

I've had this laptop for almost five years now, I'm about ready to buy a new one.
I was just looking though some old photos stored in the webcam folder and have been lol-ing at all the memories. I don't know what it is about a webcam, even if not broadcasting to anyone, we all kind of become posers, don't we?
Here are my favourite grainy photos, 2006-2010.
November 2006 - My first webcam shot in my sisters apartment, I was crashing with her for a few months until I sorted myself out in Dubai. These was also the days I used to cut my own hair :-|
June 2007 -  In my new place, a crummy little studio apartment wearing my beloved Chloe sunnies, which later wrecked after a weekend in Istanbul. Also was going through a bad case of acne at this point. Nice to look back on, NOT!
April 2008 - McQueen biaatch! And a new apartment - hell yeah.
March 2009 - Trying for a lighter hair colour for the summer... didn't last long.
May 2009 - Playing dressup - Fafi style.
June-August 2009 - Looking back and remembering how little my kitty cat was, just a few months ago it seems. She's such a fatty now. And again, newer and bigger apartment!
November 2009 - Decided to go downstairs to the salon to chop my fringe off.
At least it's straight, I've learnt something over the years!

Do you guys use your webcams much? I don't really anymore. It's still fun to look back though. I can kind of use it as a time line of different hairstyles and weight loss/weight gains - so makes a very interesting picture storyboard.

Searching for swimwear.

Today has been a monumentally unproductive day! I did a bit of sunbathing by the pool, took my cat to the vet, vegged out on the couch watching South Park and Planet Earth, and ate way too much homecooked pizza! Sometimes we just need Saturdays like this though.

Speaking of pooltime though, I've been looking for a new swimsuit for some time now. Yesterday, H&M were having a sale and selling separates for 21 dirhams each (that's about $6.50 each) but the sizes were all crazy. It would have been perfect because the issue I have when trying to buy a bikini set, is that I need different sizes for top & bottom. I've had my eye on a set from Topshop but due to my problem above, haven't bought it yet.
Here are a few others I think are pretty cool-
Topshop: Love hearts on anything is just adorable (nope, I would not mind a heart shaped tan line lol) and the denim bikini on the right is interesting. Kind of vintage and real cute.

River Island: Gorgeous colours and I'm loving the frills and tassels on the bottom pieces.

Wish me luck on finding something! I'm off to bed since I've got work tomorrow.
Hope the rest of you have a great weekend!

Heaps of birds.

A l'eau, c'est l'heure;-)
Today I went shopping with some girlfriends at Dubai Mall.
It was my first time riding Dubai's metro trains so that was kind of exciting! :-D
My favourite thing about the outfit today are the SKORTS. Is that what you still call them?;) It's how I knew it back in the 90s! Well, it's actually the first pair of loose shorts that I've owned for over 15 years I guess. I couldn't resist buying them, with that Miu Miu inspired bird print and all.. And of course, when wearing black/blue & white - I always want to add more colour (and red pops so well!). Even though it's a bird print, I feel all nautical when wearing it.

I'm going to be on a lookout for more shorts like this now summer's here. It's great, like wearing a skirt but so much more comfortable. I was walking outside to the train stations and it was pretty windy - if I were wearing a skirt, I'd be having a lot of problems unintentionally flashing people! With the shorts, no matter how windy, it was easy as.
Shorts - Blanco / White shirt - Splash
Wedges - Steve Madden / Bag - Valentino (not THAT Valentino ;) Mario Valentino bought in Rome)
Rings - Diva Accessories / Necklace worn as bracelet - Forever 21 (I think! It's so old)

Victoria Beckham.

Tell me what's your idea of physical perfection, because she sure as hell comes close to mine.
Victoria Beckham for Vogue Germany - May.

Interview extracts, courtesy of redcarpet-fashionawards.com
On fashion being her passion:
My true passion belongs the fashion. I fulfilled a life long dream by starting my own label. It’s my baby. Although I’m now in my fourth season, I always feel nervous before and during the show. As a Spice Girl I could hide behind the other 4 girls, during my presentations I’m totally responsible.
On being a perfectionist:
I do not compromise. I only use the best materials. Each piece is a favorite part of my own wardrobe, and if I wear something it must look good from every angle, not just from the front.
On her past fashion sins:
I consider my past as a fashionable part of the path that led to where I am today. ‘Elegance is the privilege of old age’.

Just shoot me!

My awesome Franki boy from back in Melbourne town has just unleashed his latest shots.
He's a bit of an ametuer photographer, preparing styled shoots in his spare time, and lucky for him, surrounded by beautiful friends that are willing to model! His latest models are my little-sistah-from-another mister Kim and my cousin Stephen, I must admit he's a bit of a hottie, no? ;)

Great work J, I'm really digging these.

Feeling f(l)at, needing motivation.

These shots of Daria Werbowy are from Flair Canada's 30th year Anniversary special from last year.
They did a 3 cover issue with stunning fashion-forward trends.
Ahhhh, I just needed a bit of inspiration and motivation to get that washboard flat tummy!:-)
I should be bikini ready for island hopping in the Philippines next month for my birthday!
PS - That Dolce & Gabbana leopard print dress is the SEX. For reals. That would be my go to outfit, 24/7.

Regretfully yours.

I'm the first to admit, I have a shopping problem. But my shopping problem runs deeper than just an addiction. I'm also an impulsive buyer. You know the shopping rule, that if you hesitate or are unsure, you should just put it back on the racks... My mind can't seem to filter out the "maybe's" and just tells me to just go for everything!
So the problem is, I'm left at home with a closet full of items I have never worn.
In the last year or so, I have accumulated 20 dresses I've only worn once (who the eff do i think I am, some Hollywood star?), and 16 that I've never even worn yet.
This is not good for my budget... I need to stop buying "maybe" items.
Or, I maybe need to start going out more!?
One of the dresses I've only ever worn once (it's fairly new though) is this 'nighty' dress. It's really pretty, I saw it and fell in love with it. But the reason I don't wear it is because of the strict-parents-in-the-form-of-Dubai-government problem I have. I mean, it looks like lingerie, I actually don't feel comfortable wearing it out (hence the huge bag to hide behind;))
New Look dress / Steve Madden platforms / Amorni bag (Melbourne).
So why did I buy it if I wasn't comfortable wearing it? Basically because it's a perfect 'date night' dress!
On the other hand, if it wasn't suitable to wear in the UAE, they wouldn't have sold it here, right?

Junko Shimada RTW Autumn 2010.

Before looking through the shots, please play the song and keep it in the background...
I could imagine this music playing as the models made their way down the catwalk.:)

Junko Shimada - Autumn 2010 Ready-to-Wear Collection
LOVING THE COLOURS.
I really like the mini skirt/long sleeve look. In some situations, I need to cover my arms up (due to the tattoo), but don't want to look like a nun ;)
For every inch of arm covered, I think it's fair to snip an inch off the skirt. Haha
Monochrome can never go out of fashion. It goes away but always come back - proving it's got the staying power. Obviously it's a classic look. Add a bit of colour to the outfit to make it POP!
Also loving the turbans featured heavily in this collection.
Always a fan of Arabian influences, and any way to keep hair out of my face during the scorching desert summer heat.
Colours, colours, colours - give me more, more, more!
And shall we have a close up look at those shoes?
Hot to trot!

PS - I wish I knew how to embed mp3's into my blog instead of youtube clips.
I've googled it but still haven't been able to figure it out!
If anyone can help me, that'd be great:-)
